We spent a little time with sweet baby Henry and his family, they were a joy to photograph. I just love in-home sessions, what better way to show exactly how life is in the moment. Babies don’t stay little for long, in a blink of an eye a nursery turns into toddler’s room, the crib is replaced with a big kid bed, little toys turn into a mountain of stuffed animals (this I know from experience.) What a treasure it is to look back and see this stamp of time, the changes in a home, the different dynamics between siblings and just how small those newborns are.
It’s the season for slowing down. So let’s stay home.
Laura, Adam and Bo’s home is handcrafted with love. Bo’s nursery is full of pieces made by family and friends. Their lovely house is curated with a mix of new and old. Antiques passed down from grandparents, treasures found on their adventures, or made by Laura herself. A home full of creativity, memories, and heart.
For their session they wanted a piece of their life documented. A slow morning at home to look back on. Music playing, coffee brewing and snuggles with their absolutely adorable 5 month old.
So grateful to capture these moments for them!
Give us all the wild hearted children and easy going mamas! As a mom of two girls myself this session pulled on my heart strings. These lovely three were visiting all the way from Whitehorse, so this chilly October evening didn’t bug them a bit. They spent their time with us running around, playing, and dancing. Most importantly they spent that time being present with each other. I truly hope when they look back on these photos they see how much love they have for each other.
So excited to share this milestone session with you! They made the drive from Toronto to Hamilton to one of our favourite outdoor locations on an unseasonably warm day. It it wasn’t for the full colours peeking through it would have completely felt like the middle of summer. Baby Blair was full of smiles and is such a charmer. We just love this dreamy session.
A few reasons why sunrise beach sessions are awesome:
The pretty pretty morning light!
Chances are your kids are up early anyway!
Morning cuddles with your family are the best!
You’ll likely get the whole place to yourself!
If you are a morning person, or a forced to be morning person thanks to your kids, think about having a sunrise session! They are magical, and yes you can bring as much coffee as you want to the beach.
We had a wonderful morning with the most wonderful people. I feel like we win the lottery again and again with the families we get to photograph.
Wishing the summer would last forever because these sunrise sessions are just dreamy.
So much love for this bunch. I have come to know them well over the years. We started photographing them back when they were a family of 4. Since then we have become friends and have spent many afternoons going on adventures with our kiddies. Their tribe is full of life and love, we feel so lucky to be able to capture them time and time again. A few favourites from their session.
We've had the privilege of photographing this family a couple times, we love seeing how their family and farm keep growing! We spent the evening photographing Bennett and capturing a bit of his everyday life here at the farm. Looking back Benny will be able to see how much he is adored.
Our milestone photos are very family oriented. If you are looking for a milestone session for your baby that is about connections and making memories please reach out. We would love to plan a session documenting some favourite activities you do with your little one. The first year of their lives go by so quickly.
Some favourites from Benny's session.
Milestone sessions are quickly becoming one of our favourites to photograph. Oh babies, we just love them. We were so happy to photograph Carter and his parents at one of our favourite outdoor locations. It was Carter's first time at the beach, and I love that his parents now have these memories to hold on to. He was very interested in watching the waves and checking out his surroundings. He also has some of the best expressions around! These three share such a wonderful bond and we had such a fun time with this family.
Lisa and I just loved our time with Alice and her parent's in their lovely home for a cozy newborn session. Alice spent the whole session snuggled up with her parents, what a dream she is. Not so long ago we spent some quality time with Adam and Lauren while they were waiting for Alice to arrive. You can find that session ~here~. It is so wonderful to see their transition into parenthood, they are over the moon in love with their baby girl. A few of our favourites from this session.
We met this bunch on a dreary Sunday, and while it was a super dark day outside, these three were full of love and light. I asked them to show us what a regular Sunday looked like to them, and It was full of laughter, music, dancing, and of course food. Kris is the talent behind 80 Twenty, a food and lifestyle blog that is full of amazing recipes. Her love of food started early, spending a great deal of time learning and of course eating at her family-owned restaurant. Now she's passing her love and creativity for food down to her daughter. Being able to capture family's traditions makes our hearts so happy. We truly enjoyed our time with Kris and her family. Here are some of our favourites from the time we spent together.
The best thing about maternity sessions is that it gives us a chance to hangout and get to know the parents-to-be before their sweet baby arrives. It also gives us chance to capture a glimpse of their life pre-baby, including the sense of waiting and anticipation. Although pregnancy can feel like it lasts forever, looking back it is really such a short period in time in the grand scheme of things. Both Lisa and I love chatting about babies and pregnancy, so after our session with Lauren and Adam we were feeling pretty nostalgic.
This couple was so laid back and fun to photograph. We can't wait to meet their little one next month!
One of my hopes is to share more personal work here. I haven't fully figured out the best way to combine my client work with my personal so I figured a blog post would be a good place to start.
When it comes to photographing my everyday I'm obsessed over taking pictures of my kids. Aren't we all? These photos are my time capsule. I truly believe that photography can help us remember a time that would have otherwise been forgotten. One of my goals for 2018 is to photograph myself and my hubby more, as you can see it's all about the kids here!
Here are a few of my favourite images from 2017.
We met baby Rory and his parents on a chilly November morning in their lovely home. We can't get enough of this sweet session. We loved watching one month old Rory interact and hangout with his parents. It's truly such a great age to photograph. We could have spent all day photographing his sweet expression, baby yawns, and smiles. <3
Not so long ago the days were a bit longer and the weather was a lot warmer. I'm already missing the days when we could leave the house jacket free. This was the perfect evening for a fall shoot, especailly one near water. We had so much fun photographing and hanging out with this lovely family at Paletta Park.
Our love for photography started with taking pictures of kids, so when we are asked to do a milestone or child session our answer is always, yes please! This guy turned 4 a couple of weeks before our shoot. What an amazing age to capture. We spent our time together hunting for sticks, throwing rocks into the water and exploring. It reminded Lisa and I of the evenings we spend with our own children in nature. Just kids being kids.
When one of our favourite families invites us over to photograph their newest addition, Lisa and I get excited! I can't say enough great things about them; their whole family is so much fun to photograph and Baby Bennett is absolutely the sweetest. Also be sure to check out that Star Wars nursery! Lisa and I feel beyond lucky to have been able to capture their tribe again.
Usually Lisa and I arrive early to a photo shoot to have one last look around, but this time as soon as we walked out to the beach, we were literally almost blown away by the wind. Officially the windiest session we've ever had, but I have to say, this family embraced it and truly made it uniquely beautiful. The love that these three have for each other is so incredible and we feel honoured to have been able to capture it. Caring less about their hair (although they rocked the wind blown look!) and more about their connection. This is what it's all about!
We spent some time walking, chatting and photographing this gorgeous mama. Her farm is an absolute dream, full of ducks, chickens and of course adorable barn cats. Lisa and I had the honour of capturing their family session last fall and it's so amazing to watch families grow. We can't wait to come back and meet their newest addition, due to make his arrival any day now!
Oh this beautiful family that embraced an early morning session, and who ran straight for the water and were not afraid of getting their clothes wet. There was sand between their toes (and in their hair) but more importantly there were smiles on their faces. They were amazing and we adore this session so much.
